Elba is an Italian island in the Tyrrhenian Sea some 6 miles off the Italian mainland. It is known famously as Napoleon’s place of exile from France between1814–15. This image was taken in the coastal town of Portoferraio which is the major town on the island. In 1860 Elba became part of the new unified Kingdom of Italy.
