Comfort In Curves

Scientists and designers have published interesting research around why we find rounded surfaces pleasing and comfortable. The underlying reasoning is apparently primal – we prefer curves because they signal a lack of threat. We see it as comforting, and derive an innate pleasure from it. When those curves are the beautiful Sydney sandstone and iron railings framing the iconic Sydney Opera House then hopefully the observer becomes even more comfortable and derives pleasure from this image.
